The primary mission of Spandana Society (also known as the Spandana Children’s Home) is to provide a loving, nurturing environment to children who had nowhere else to turn to, and to build with them a promising pathway to a bright future.
Whether it be losing parents to HIV/AIDS, being rescued from child labor, malnourishment, or situations with an acute need for intervention, Spandana directly intervenes and welcomes children into our family who deserve a better life.
Currently, we at the Spandana Children’s Home have 90 children under our care and guardianship, aged 6 years to 21 years old. Approximately half of the children are girls, and the other half are boys.
Spandana collaborates with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), an Indian government initiative, which is the operation that discovers cases of children that are in need. It’s through the CWC that our children have found our way to us.
Spandana is run by four directors that have years of experience in social work, childcare/ child psychology, and organizational operations. The directors run Spandana with a unique philosophy: that if our children are given an environment of love and care, combined with a high quality education, they can achieve their biggest dreams and pay-it-forward to the greater society when they grow up.
If you are considering supporting Spandana - either through connections, advocacy or funding - that is hugely appreciated by us. There is more that we can do for our children with greater support.
